Jan 0293: Rush hour was clearing as I left the city and headed east. Behind me, I could hear the occasional mooing. The temperature outside was over 30C/86F.

By the time I reached El Centro, it was over 100F/40C. The last hour of my drive was a constant fight between my concern over the cows, and the desire to go substantially faster, and my prudence’s as a truck driver. The latter won out, but i’d be lying if I said I felt this was just another job.
