J0289: After the mudslide near Barstow, I had to wait several days for my truck to be extricated from the earth and rocks that encased it. It would not run, so it was towed to HMS in San Diego. My friend Mike did not have good news for me. I needed a new engine, among other things, from aspirating water as I ran into the flooded road. What was I to do now? I had loans to pay.

Once again Mike, who as you know was no longer just a customer and mechanic for me, treated me like a friend.
