S0571: In summer it was easier, the herd could be fed and milked at the farm, spending their time in the fields the rest of the day. But in winter, the herd was scattered among several neighbouring farms and boarded - for a fee, of course. All these changes to the family business were expensive and slowed recovery. When I could, I helped out, both helping at the farm where I grew up, or when it came to my profession.
