What became of this man and his predicament? Did he get to Tonopah in time?

J0258: It wasn’t challenging driving on the back roads. I kept my distance and followed traffic. Naturally my passenger and I started talking.
He was a mechanical engineer, working on robotics. He had a wife and two kids. His son had M.S. and needed a lot of care. Which is what led to his complicated job application in Tonopah, cancelled interviews because urgent needs at home, etc.
