J0144. DOT inspectors say that if they have to choose between two trucks, they will usually pull aside the truck that is looking dirty and beat up. It may seem arbitrary, but experience showed them that a truck that looks like new - even if it's old - is likelier to be the one that will pass inspection.

Maybe that's why this Kenworth was in the back lot getting its third wash this week.
