Jan 0228: The work at Big Sur was massive. I stopped at the entrance and asked the guys what they needed a roller for, as there was no road building going on yet. They told me it was for compacting the crushed stone they were laying to stabilize the ground.

I parked, and went in search of the foreman Mike told me about.
